ST. LOUIS COUNTY — In what's becoming a familiar scene in the region, another man this weekend was charged with shooting a 13-year-old boy suspected of breaking into his car.
Demetrius Haymon, 23, told police he went outside and found two teens breaking into his car just after 2 a.m. Saturday in the 14300 block of Spring Time Lane. The neighborhood is just outside Florissant city limits and near Haymon's home.
So Haymon grabbed his Glock semiautomatic handgun, went outside and confronted them, according to the court documents. The juveniles ran away and Haymon fired a shot at them, police reported. One of the kids, the 13-year-old boy, was hit in "the backside."
Haymon was booked into the Ƶ County jail just after 3 a.m. Saturday, according to online records.
He's charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. Haymon was still in custody Monday morning on a $150,000 cash-only bond.

Police on Monday said the teen was expected to survive his injuries.
Haymon's case is similar to charges filed against 46-year-old Michael Tolden two weeks ago.
Like Haymon, Tolden is accused of seeing juveniles breaking into cars on his street in the dark. Police in that case said Tolden also grabbed his gun, this time a shotgun, and confronted the teens.
The Bellefontaine Neighbors resident fired the gun toward the teens, who were running away, and hit their getaway car’s driver, 16-year-old Karmel Graham. The teen died at the scene.
Tolden's lawyer argued in court the shooting was self-defense.
