ST. LOUIS — A fire ripped through a vacant downtown warehouse Saturday morning, creating massive plumes of smoke that could be seen for miles.
The five-story warehouse, at First and O'Fallon streets near the riverfront and just north of the casino Horseshoe Ƶ, caught fire before 8 a.m.
Crews continued defensive operations through much of the morning, as the building had collapsed in several spots.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire has not been determined.
About 80 firefighters responded to the blaze.
Saturday's fire is next to the site of another recent warehouse blaze.
In October 2022, a five-alarm blaze ripped through another warehouse at North First and O'Fallon streets.
