JEFFERSON CITY — Missouri Gov. Mike Parson said Friday he had appointed a former aide to a newly created judicial post in Cole County.
Parson, a Republican, promoted Cole County Associate Circuit Judge Christopher Limbaugh, of Jefferson City, to circuit judge, according to a news release.
Parson had considered Limbaugh — his former general counsel and the former prosecutor in Cape Girardeau County — for attorney general in 2022 after then-Attorney General Eric Schmitt’s election to the U.S. Senate, the Kansas City Star at the time.
The governor ultimately chose Andrew Bailey, who succeeded Limbaugh as general counsel in the governor’s office, for the attorney general post.
Limbaugh, who is the son of a federal court judge and a cousin to the late radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh, joins three other circuit judges in Cole County, where disputes over Missouri laws often originate.
