JEFFERSON CITY 鈥 A 狐狸视频 County state Senate candidate鈥檚 plan to tear down a historic capital city property and replace it with a 鈥渃astle鈥 was stalled Monday night amid local opposition.
Before the Jefferson City Council meeting Monday, Councilman Mark Schwartz said the council would seek to negotiate the purchase of another vacant lot with the candidate, David Gregory, the Jefferson City News Tribune .
Speakers at the meeting were told the demolition was 鈥渙ff the table,鈥 according to the newspaper.
The announcement came after local residents criticized the plan by Gregory and his wife, Paige, to demolish the 1883 Italianate-style house, called the 鈥淒aniel H. McIntyre house鈥 after the former Missouri attorney general who lived there in the late 19th century, the News Tribune reported.

The couple planned to erect 鈥淧aige鈥檚 Castle鈥 in its place, saying Gregory intended to 鈥渟elf-occupy鈥 the building and also rent it on a platform like Airbnb.
Their plan said that Gregory鈥檚 previous work in the Missouri House kept him from his wife for half the year.
鈥淗e vowed to her that, if he ever returned, he would build her another home so she and their family could always be with him,鈥 the plan said. 鈥淒avid is on a mission to build Paige her castle and create a new, historic trend for Jefferson City living.鈥
A spokesman for Gregory did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday.
His Democratic opponent in the race for the 15th Senate District, Joe Pereles, used the episode to portray Gregory as detached from the district.
鈥淛oe is focused squarely on talking with voters over the next seven weeks 鈥 not building castles in Jefferson City,鈥 Megan Shackelford, spokesperson for Pereles, said Monday.
Gregory said in a statement later Monday that 鈥淐learly, my opponent wants to talk about my family because he doesn鈥檛 want to talk about the liberal policies he supports that hurt families in my district.鈥
Alderman Scott Spencer, who represents Jefferson City鈥檚 3rd Ward, said in an email: 鈥淒avid Gregory has worked with us every step of the way and it鈥檚 wrong that some people are playing politics with this property, which we have wanted to redevelop for decades.鈥
