CAPE GIRARDEAU  •  James Tebeau, the owner of a southern Missouri campground known for music festivals and open-air drug sales, was sentenced to 30 months in prison and 200 hours of community service Tuesday on a federal drug charge, prosecutors said.
Tebeau, 44, was also fined $50,000.
He was not involved in the drug sales at his roughly 350-acre Shannon Property, which was home to "Camp Zoe," and did not profit from them. He was aware of them, however, and prosecutors said he told employees what drugs were and were not allowed.
Tebeau, a member of a Grateful Dead tribute band called the Schwag, hosted weekend music festivals known as “Schwagstock†or “Spookstock†that were attended by an average of 5,000 fans. Prosecutors say 100 to 200 drug dealers also attended, selling roughly $500,000 worth of marijuana, psychedelic mushrooms, ecstasy, cocaine, LSD and opium at each event.

Tebeau pleaded guilty in June to one felony count of maintaining a drug-involved premises as part of a deal that resulted in the agreed-upon, 30 month sentence. He also agreed to forfeit the property. He is appealing the use of the particular criminal charge against a concert venue, however.
