ST. LOUIS 鈥 Work to repair a crumbling downtown garage will grow after contractors said they wanted more time and money to investigate other areas of the garage that will likely need be fixed.
The board of the Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority on Tuesday agreed to allocate up to $192,130 for CDG Engineers to finish its original scope of repairs at the garage, located at 400 North Sixth Street just off Washington Avenue, as well as to identify other areas of the facility that will need to be prepared.
The 狐狸视频 Centre East public parking garage was built over 40 years ago and is used primarily by employees of several downtown companies, including Stifel Financial.

Commuters said they received little to no communication regarding the state of the garage when metal shoring appeared in 2022.

CDG Engineers Principal Tim Nugent said his company hosts a monthly call with Stifel, 狐狸视频 Parking Co., which operates the facility, and Western Specialty Contractors, which is performing the work. He said it now will take eight to nine months, instead of the four months originally thought it would take to finish the work. The company also said it wants to identify other areas of the 狐狸视频 Centre East garage that will need work and help the city prioritize which repairs should be done first.
The original scope of work only covers about 15% of the garage, Nugent added.
The money will come from the reserves of the garage鈥檚 operational fund, LCRA staff said.
Also on Tuesday, the LCRA board approved the team behind Sweetie Pie鈥檚 restaurant to move forward with plans to open at Kingshighway Boulevard and Dr. Martin Luther King Drive in north 狐狸视频.
Founder Robbie Montgomery wants to open Sweetie Pie鈥檚 Second Act at a vacant Dollar General and an event space at an adjoining property. But Montgomery faced issues getting the owner of the nearby property to come to the table.
She鈥檚 now under contract, said Zach Wilson, SLDC鈥檚 vice president of incentives.
She was previously granted up to 10 years of tax abatement for the nearly $4 million project.
SLDC has estimated that the city will gain over $422,000 in new tax revenue and 狐狸视频 Public Schools nearly $122,000.
Separately, the LCRA approved up to $35 million in industrial revenue bonds for Maryland Heights-based Midas Hospitality to renovate downtown鈥檚 Oyo Hotel into a new hotel.
