DELLWOOD 鈥 The Urban League of Metropolitan 狐狸视频 has opened a new $10 million senior housing development in north 狐狸视频 County.
The project adds 44 one- or two-bedroom apartments to the Dellwood area, along with a computer lab, food pantry and fitness center, according to a release.
The development was built on West Florissant Avenue at the site of the former AutoZone. The shop was destroyed during the 2014 civil unrest that erupted after a white police officer killed Michael Brown, an 18-year-old Black man.
Urban League has made the area a special focus since then.
鈥淲e are thrilled to celebrate the opening of Urban League Senior Apartments, a testament to our ongoing commitment to serving the needs of our community,鈥 Urban League President and CEO Michael McMillan said in a statement.

The nonprofit partnered with Gardner Capital, a nationwide private equity firm, on the project.
Gardner Capital鈥檚 GCRE Upward Mobility Fund also donated two Tesla Model 3s for residents to use for free.
The fund will provide free vehicle charging for the next 20 years that鈥檚 worth $250,000, according to a release.
