The ºüÀêÊÓƵ region could face area-wide threats from severe storms Thursday afternoon and evening, including the potential for winds of up to 70 mph, large hail, and “a tornado or two,†according to local forecasters with the National Weather Service.
The anticipated late-Thursday storm activity follows an earlier round in the morning, along and north of Interstate 70, that wrapped up by about 11 a.m.
The window for the later round of storms was expected to last from about 3 to 11 p.m.
Forecast analysis from the NWS said that “the primary threats with thunderstorms this afternoon and evening will be damaging winds and large hail, although a tornado cannot be ruled out.†Locally heavy rain is also possible, it said.
After the front passes through, the area can expect drier conditions stretching into next week, with daily high temperatures that top out in the 80s and are considered to be near normal for this time of the year.
