A new football season has arrived, which means bettors have hundreds of options for every single game on the slate. That includes NFL anytime TD scorer odds, which are among the most popular markets at NFL betting sites every week.Â
Below, we break down our favorite Week 1 NFL anytime TD picks to consider for the opening slate of the new season.Â
NFL Week 1 Anytime touchdown scorer picks, including Josh Allen props
Since 2022, no running back has rushed for more scores in the red zone than Derrick Henry (21), so he's a pretty safe bet to find the end zone with his new team if you're looking to back one player in Thursday's opener between the Chiefs and Ravens. It's worth noting that Kansas City's defense was excellent in the red zone last season and allowed just a handful of scores in those situations, but it could be spread thin preparing to bottle Henry while keeping Lamar Jackson in check.Â
Due to all the options that Kansas City has for scoring, the safest pick in this game feels like Henry assuming Baltimore gets close to the end zone.Â
Josh Allen has always been aggressive taking off with the ball and is not shy about trying to find the end zone with his legs when he can. Add in the fact that Stefon Diggs is gone from Buffalo, and it's likely Allen will be trying to do even more himself when it comes to putting points on the board for the Bills.Â
Take into account the fact that Arizona's run defense struggled mightily a season ago and allowed over a TD per game on the ground, we give Allen a great opportunity to get into the end zone himself as we've seen many times before.Â
If No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams tosses his first NFL touchdown on Sunday, who does it go to? Keenan Allen? Cole Kmet? D'Andrew Swift out of the backfield?Â
There are plenty of options for Williams on the Chicago offense, but perhaps none as good as D.J. Moore, who has already developed a rapport with his young QB.
The Titans' secondary has been revamped and likely will look improved, but it doesn't mean they'll be ready to cover all of Chicago's weapons in the opener, and we'll opt to back the No. 1 receiver to score.Â
New Orleans running back Alvin Kamara is unhappy with his contract situation and wants a new deal that he is not getting before the new season starts on Sunday. That said, he attended all of training camp and is done discussing the contract until after the season. If we assume Kamara keeps his role in the offense, he's a great bet to score in Week 1.Â
The Carolina Panthers' defense averaged 1.5 rushing scores allowed per game in 2023, good for dead last in the league. In addition to leading the team's offense on the ground, Kamara also catches passes out of the backfield and has every chance to be Derek Carr's option in the red zone if he isn't carrying the football.Â
The Giants' secondary is not in great shape and they will certainly have their work cut out for them defending Justin Jefferson and likely Jordan Addison (ankle) as well.Â
While we believe Sam Darnold can do enough under center for the Vikings to get the ball out to both of his star receivers against the Giants, the value we're finding in TD odds is for Aaron Jones at +140.Â
Jones was cut by his former team and joins their biggest rival with a huge chip on his shoulder, and is now the starting running back. While the Giants struggle the most in the secondary, their commitment to not getting shredded by Jefferson and Addison could open up opportunities for Jones, who shined when finally healthy toward the end of last season.Â
