I’ve been a registered voter for over 40 years.  I regularly vote in general elections, primaries, ballot issues. Our current politics and government would be laughable if only we didn’t have to live with the results.Â
Democratic former ºüÀêÊÓƵ Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardner’s incompetence fades from memory but major issues still exist in the city including violent crime, policing problems, ºüÀêÊÓƵ Public Schools mismanagement, progressive follies like guaranteed income, etc.Â
Democratic ºüÀêÊÓƵ County Executive Sam Page does “pro-bono hospital work†as we watch him try to stack the County Council. ("Medicaid records show Page has side job. ºüÀêÊÓƵ hospital says he’s just a volunteer." Aug. 29.)

Republican Missouri political candidates often have either an automatic weapon or a flamethrower in their campaign ads. Really? And Republican legislators are proud to have the strictest abortion laws and the loosest gun laws in the U.S. Are we a serious people anymore? In Congress, Democratic Rep. Cori Bush is a laughingstock.
And nationally, we’re down to Donald Trump versus Kamala Harris. Trump is a bullying buffoon, with shortcomings are far too numerous to rehash here.
Vice President Harris, a White House insider, cannot credibly deny knowledge of President Joe Biden’s compromised condition. Why wasn’t the 25th amendment invoked? Campaign financing laws drove the decision to make her the candidate. Nobody knows her policies, but her “values have not changed.†What does that even mean?
I’m in that vast wasteland in the middle of the political spectrum: a right-leaning moderate. Have we hit bottom yet?
