A 狐狸视频 County judge has accepted an agreement requiring the聽Bridgeton Landfill鈥檚 owner, Republic Services Inc., to provide data on聽carbon monoxide testing in the landfill's north quarry so analysts can track the smoldering under way at the site,聽Attorney General Chris Koster said today.
Under the order from 狐狸视频 County Circuit Judge Michael Jamison, Republic will start providing the data no later than Feb. 20 and then in 60-day intervals, Koster said. The judge set a hearing for June 19-20 on continued聽carbon monoxide testing, as well as any other issues related to the state鈥檚 lawsuit against Republic.
鈥淭oday鈥檚 order means that the public and local first responders will have CO data for the entire landfill within 35 days,鈥 said Koster in a press release. "Access to this data is critical to get the most accurate picture of the underground fire.鈥

Republic is building a聽聽to keep a the smoldering underground waste fire at the Bridgeton Landfill away from the adjacent West Lake Landfill. The EPA is supervising that work.
West Lake was designated a Superfund site in 1990 because of聽World War II-era nuclear waste buried there.
