COLUMBIA, Mo. — Missouri is in line to approach another gameday with at least some uncertainty around who its starting quarterback will be.
Mizzou listed quarterback Brady Cook as doubtful on its Wednesday injury report, the first indication of his chances to play against South Carolina on Saturday — which evidently aren't high.
The report, required by the Southeastern Conference, does not specify the nature of Cook's injury. He has been dealing with separate ankle and throwing hand/wrist injuries, which caused him to miss the Tigers' last game.
Cook's doubtful status means an eventual decision on his availability is likely to come closer to kickoff and may not be determined until Saturday. Should he be ruled out, Drew Pyne would be in line to start his second consecutive game.Â
Wide receiver Mookie Cooper was listed as doubtful. He has missed MU's last two games with an undisclosed injury. Joshua Manning has seen his snaps and routes increase as a result.

Left guard Cayden Green, who left the Oklahoma and Alabama contests early after getting rolled up on, was not listed on the report. Mitchell Walters has replaced Green.
Center Connor Tollison has been ruled out for the rest of the season, which means Drake Heismeyer is in line to start at the core of Missouri's offensive line.
Mizzou coach Eli Drinkwitz has closed the traditionally open portion of Tuesday practices to media to keep reporters from noting the participation levels of any injured players. He has also stopped answering questions about injuries during press conferences
"I’ll refer back to the SEC injury policy (and) reporting procedure, which will be out Wednesday night,†Drinkwitz said as a preemptive strike on the matter to open his Tuesday conversation with reporters.
The SEC requires programs to issue injury reports on the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday before a game, as well as 90 minutes before kickoff on Saturday.Â
