ARLINGTON, Texas — Missouri quarterback Jake Garcia is reportedly entering the transfer portal.Â
Garcia, who previously transferred to Mizzou from Miami, will leave the program after a single season, per a report from ESPN.
He's allowed to make the move after new guidance from the NCAA allows players to transfer a second time without needing to sit out a season.Â
Garcia arrived in Columbia to compete with Brady Cook and Sam Horn for the Tigers' starting job, only to fall to third on the depth chart. Garcia has three seasons of college eligibility remaining.
He spent two years with the Hurricanes, making one start as their backup quarterback.
Garcia is with MU in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for Friday's Cotton Bowl against Ohio State and practiced with the team Wednesday afternoon. Mizzou coach Eli Drinkwitz has previously said that he's allowing outbound transfers to play in the bowl game, though Garcia's exact status is not clear.
